Answered questions
“Some Answered Questions no 32” from the Baha’i writings certainly answered a question I and a few other have been asking about why some people of faith never go further than believing in God and receiving Christ and others are continuously yearning for more of God.
I never realised that no human being can be blamed for the “station” at which they find themselves spiritually ,as it is determined by The Creator- just as The Creator determines that A will be a certain type of plant and B will be another variety. This then answers the question we used to ask in Fireside talks about why there are “100 flavours of Christianity” and so many divisions in The Church. Every church basically appeals to Types of Christians and sometimes people feel led to branch out even more and cater to particular varieties within one type!
However, only those who attain a true knowledge and understanding of Reality, of Christ and of The Kingdom of God, ie only those who are chosen, have access to The Father, the Source of all Creation. How then do various spiritual traditions ensure that those who have a true love for God attain the necessary knowledge and understanding? Some Answered Questions says that we are responsible for the degree of faith we exercise and this is what determines if are chosen. Certainly the Bible confirms this when it says that Abraham was justified by faith- the reason he and his descendants received the eternal promise of Christ Consciousness is the high degree of faith they exercised. But practically, when Law has been fulfilled by the work of the cross (atonement for sin)and we operate under God’s grace, how do we exercise faith to raise it to higher levels? Any input you can provide in this respect will be extremely helpful as I am participating in discussion groups with people of many faiths about important aspects of doctrine like this. For many people, teachings related to doctrine are too intellectual to be easily absorbed. I am working with a discussion group leader who wants to develop interactive studies for these kinds of topics and my goal is to then translate what is learned into a retreat programme. Any suggestions and insights most welcome.

Hi Tabitha,
Thank you. To me, faith is an in-the-moment experience of seeking guidance within from the Holy Spirit… a willingness to sift through what I think I may need to do or be and a surrender to the clear space inside that speaks the Truth.
In that, faith is also an experience of trusting the best is taking place in all moments, that my perceptions may color the experience and that I alone can exercise free will in the illusion of controlling my life experience or I can choose to surrender to the Will of the Creator.
Faith = Trust.
That can be, as you indicated, a life long process for some and easier for others. Either way I agree that it is a communion of humanity and spirit often dictated by the willingness of the person walking the path… who is an emanation of God’s Love so there never really is any separation – just our feeling/perception of separation…
Love,
Amy
